Enjoy a one-day Orientation experience filled with fun and laughter! First-year students will have the opportunity to meet new friends and explore the UHart campus through campus tours and activities with the Red Caps.

Red Caps
Red Caps are student orientation leaders who are eager to help new students and their parents learn about student life and our community at the University of Hartford. The Red Caps are friendly, helpful, inclusive, enthusiastic, and thoughtful. They promote the University and the opportunities it has to offer. Through individual conversations, group activities, academic advising, and various programs, Red Caps help incoming students and their parents become familiar and comfortable with the University.

Orientation FAQs
Yes, if you are a student attending a June orientation session. Your room assignment for orientation will be given to you at check-in. Parents do not stay on campus. Check out local hotels and motels.
For the August orientation session, if you are scheduled to live on campus, you will be moving into your permanent room assignment when you arrive in August. You should bring with you all of the things you will need for the fall semester.
There are no on-campus accommodations available for commuter students during the August session.
Commuter students attending Sessions 1–3 in June will also be staying overnight on campus. Please plan accordingly so that you enjoy the full Orientation experience. Activities in the evening afford our commuter students the opportunity to socialize with their peers as well as our Red Cap upperclassmen.
There are no on-campus overnight accommodations available for commuter students during the August Orientation, Sessions 4-5.
Yes, there is a day-and-a-half program in June and a one day program in August for parents of first-year students that is separate from the student program. It is designed to acquaint parents with the services and staff of the University.
Parents do not stay on campus with their student. Several local hotels and motels provide discounted rates for parents. These accommodations are conveniently located within 10-20 minutes from the campus. When you call, tell them that you are participating in the University of Hartford's Orientation program.
Casual comfortable clothes, walking shoes, and your questions (no matter how big or small).
Yes they can, but they will have to spend all of the time with your parents and they may be charged the same rate as a guest. It is not an ideal situation for a sibling so if alternate arrangements can be made, we recommend doing so.
